This display showed rarely seen plaster sculptures made by Barbara Hepworth and other artists working in the first half of the 20th century. Contemporary sculptures in this display variously referenced ideas of the plaster copy, beauty and the classical pose.By placing them together, visitors were invited to see how Western art's adherence to a single story of art represented in the classical plaster cast has been replaced by many different kinds of sculptural objects each demonstrating a differentartist's experience and ideas.
