A lithograph by the American artist Joseph Hirsch (1910-1981) titled Lunch Hour. The work shows a young African-American man slumped over a desk. The work was part of a series by Hirsch exploring the impact of the Great Depression and the Second World War on the workers class. Short Biography: Born in Philadelphia in 1910, Joseph Hirsch studied at the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art in 1927. He studied under George Luks between 1932 and 1933 who introduced him to the Social Realism Movement. His work is focused on civic corruption and racial injustice. He died in 1981 in New York City.
