Long Description: "The making of lutes in Slovenia has not been proved yet, although their playing in aristocratic and ecclesiastic societies has been known since the 16th century. Among the preserved heritage the lute of the exellent Viennese master Andreas Beer (1656-1722) from 1694 is a highly regarded exhibit originating from the Dornava mansion. It is an exellent piece of the "German school" of early Renaissance types that were still made at the end of the 17th century. Only two lutes from Beer's workshop have been preserved; the second from 1699 is kept in the Art Museum of Boston." (dr. Darja Koter)
