Puzzler and inventor Steve Weinreich invented several versions of strip puzzles, and more specifically slat-type puzzles, which are composed of strips but which have the puzzle image printed on the edges of the strips, not the flat sides. He began toying with the form of slat puzzles in the 1970s, producing several prototypes, and then shelved his ideas. Reviving his ideas around 2010, he found a backer, Fundex Games Ltd., at New York's ToyFair. The firm produced a very few in-house production prototypes, of which this example features a summer scene of hot-air balloons.
