Real Fossil - Late Cretaceous 75 Mya - Morocco
Fossil evidence shows their diet consisted mostly of crustaceans and clams. The sea turtle shell evolved through time with the broadening and eventual suturing of the ribs. In mammals and lizards, the rib cage is used to ventilate the lungs, since sea turtles no longer have traditional ribs, the evolution of large lungs allow the rapid exchange of oxygen to prevent the trapping of gases during deep dives.
