This piece belongs to his second era known as Abstraction and Informalism (Abstracción e Informalismo), understood to be from 1956–1963. During this second era he appeared to continue to practice gestural abstractionism, but he still includes sands with their natural color and demonstrates his interest in the treatment of textures. In this piece the particular working method used by the artist can be appreciated: he first worked on the canvas vertically to later place it on the floor and apply agglutinated sand grains with adhesive on the surface using the dripping technique.
