Dr. McCormack Charles Farrell Easmon was born in 1890 in Accra, Gold Coast to Sierra Leonean parents. He was a descendant of African American Settlers who arrived in Sierra Leone, in 1792.
In 1913, after earning his medical degrees in the U.K., Dr. Easmon was admitted into the Native Medical Staff and placed in Moyamba. He would be stationed there for another 20 years.
His contributions to society went far beyond the medical field and into national history and heritage. In 1947, Dr. Easmon became the first Chair of the Monuments and Cleric Commission. He also served as Curator of the Sierra Leone National Museum when it opened in the late 1950s.
