This banner celebrates the individual and collective strength, grace and intelligence of women, especially the women of Corby. The violets were chosen as a symbol of growth, hope and inspiration. Together, the group became a ‘creative voice’ for women of all ages and backgrounds by sharing their past and present, as well as their hopes and aspirations for the future. ‘Deeds Not Words’ is also the town motto of Corby, so it was important to the group that it was included, especially given its connection to the Suffragette movement.
“My Mum would be so proud and happy that I have attended this group. She was born in the 1920’s and women getting the vote was a new thing. She always used her vote and so do I. In loving memory of Mum. Thank you.”

“We were honoured to be chosen out of 100 artists to work on the PROCESSIONS Banner project. This collaboration brought together stories, strengths and skills in a diverse group of local women.”
