Sano di PietroFifth decade of the XVth century

Fondazione Musei Senesi
Siena, Italy

The painting, who belongs to the better production of the prolific Sano di Pietro, shows elegant Gothic figure set between the gold backgrounds and the detailed rose garden at Virgin's feet. The thin features of the angels and of the two protagonists seem to resemble the style of Stefano di Giovanni known as Sassetta, especially in intimistic and devotional attitude.
