"Imaginería Andina" refers to a tradition of devotional art in the Andes, rooted in the cultural and religious blending of indigenous Andean beliefs and Spanish Catholicism during the colonial period. This artistic genre encompasses sculptures, paintings, and other representations of Catholic religious figures, particularly saints, the Virgin Mary, and Christ, as well as other sacred scenes. Small sculptures and retablos (portable altarpieces) became central to private and communal devotional practices, allowing individuals to display their faith at home or during festivals.
