Madonna with Child

The panel belongs to the series of Madonnas with Child painted by Montagna between 1480 and 1480.The cloth quich separates the sacred characters from the urban landscape, gives an intimate atmosphere to the painting, thus mitigating the rigour of the composition.
The contrast between the slender figure of the Madonna and the robust one of the Child, with a solid volume and a strong perspective foreshortening, is also skillfully rendered.
