Madonna with Child, Saints Apollonia and Bernardino and four angels

Sano di Pietroca. 1460

This precious panel is one of the typical small devotional artworks produced by the prolific workshop of Sano di Pietro. Typical are as well the sweetly astonished, doll-like faces, but also the miniaturistic accuracy of the decorative details - like the florews, the little bird held by the Child, the motifs impressed on gold - the chromatic elegance and the tenderness of the flesh.
