Clearly, one of the early calendars which proudly proclaims India, this is borrowed from Ravi Varma's Draupadi Vastraharan. Created by S. Ramalingam, the artist shows Lord Krishna come to the rescue of a desperate Draupadi even as the Pandavas sit dejectedly, though Bhima, with the mace as his giveaway is furious, yet unable to move a muscle. Deep in the background is King Dhritharashtra who hears everything but is unable to stop his wicked sons Duryodhana and Dushasana from disrobing Draupadi.
This 1963 calendar pays tribute to the Harvey Brothers, Andrew & Frank Harvey, who brought their steam spinning mills to Madurai and helped build the success story of Madura Mills Co., Ltd.
