Magic Lantern Slide: Sunset at Exmouth

This is one of three images from a series bearing the same title, and possibly captured in the same evening. As individual images they are picturesque, but taken together they show the photographer experimenting to create the ‘perfect’ romantic image.

This magic lantern slide shows a view of the sunset at Exmouth, Devon in 1911.

William Weaver Baker was a keen local amateur photographer and his collection of lantern slides offer a rare glimpse of Exeter and the surrounding area in the early twentieth century.
