Amok Island is a self-taught, self-employed artist and designer living in Perth. After spending more than a decade painting walls in the heart of Amsterdam, his love for all things tropical saw him travel across Asia before settling in Perth. Passionate about underwater photography, he often references this in his work. Amok has been commissioned to create a number of public murals across Perth area and the state’s north in Port Hedland as well as internationally in Indonesia, Amsterdam and Portugal. From his studio in Perth, Amok creates colourful canvases of sea creatures and coastal aerial views and also produces handmade screen prints using a technique of exposing screens to sunlight.
