According to Hinduism, Mahishasuramardini or Ashtabhuja Devi is the name given to one of the manifestations of the goddess Durga, which she assumes to kill the demon Mahishasura. A being who intended to destroy the goddesses, who combines a mahisha (buffalo) and an asura (demon).
