In the tympanum, the figure with greatest visual impact because of its centrality and size is the sculpture of Christ in Majesty. The image materializes Saint John’s apocalyptic vision (“I saw that there was a throne in heaven, and One seated on the throne…”, Chapter Four). This relation between image and text justifies the presence of the Evangelist and the representation of Christ enthroned.
