The artist spent his first three years of life in the outskirts of Turin, immersed in a natural landscape, while at the same time surrounded by a rustic environment defined by work and communal life. Mais speaks of the work in the countryside: the corn on the cob, grain, and rake seem to recall the smell and sounds of sharing in the labor.
