Malayan sunset

Chao went on a trip to Singapore and Malaya (present day Malaysia) in 1952, and the painting was completed in Hong Kong afterwards. He was fascinated by the charming sunset when the sky by the riverside turned red. This work permeates with the exotic flavour of the tropical Malayan countryside.
