Malcolm was an outstanding three quarter for Wales and the British Lions in the 1950s. First capped for Wales against France in 1949, Malcolm was a member of the Welsh team which won the Triple Crown and Grand Slam in 1950. His performances that season earned him a place on the Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand.
In 1952 Malcolm played in the Welsh team which won their second Grand Slam in 3 seasons. He gained 27 caps Welsh caps over his career and went on a second Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1959.
Malcolm Was born in 1929 in Machen. He played most of his club rugby for Newport where he was an outstanding player as Centre and occasionally as outside half. Whilst doing his National Service, Malcolm played for Devonport Services, the Royal Navy and the Combined Services.
Occasionally, at the end of an international match, players swap jerseys with the a another player on the opposing team as a memento of the event. Malcolm collected a wide array of different international jerseys this way across his career in the 1950s. We are lucky enough to have his collection in the WRU archive today, many of which are featured on this page.
