Made of lambskin; black, sleeveless, lined with cropped white fleece. A semicircular neckline. Fastens on the left shoulder and on the sides, below the armholes. The bottom part richly decorated with multicolored patches and the front part also with embroidery done in multicolored cotton thread called araz. Patterns geometric and floral. Two pockets made of predominantly red and purple leather at the bottom of the front panel and above the leather appliqués. Trimmed with short black wool, except around the armholes. An integral part of the traditional Romanian men’s festive dress. Made in 1907 by a furrier in the village of Uzdin. Worn on festive occasions by Petru Sekešan (Katica Baložan’s uncle), who died in 1964, aged 82. Fell into disuse. An artisan’s product. Length: 48 cm; hemline circumference: 96 cm.
