20 pattern-woven strips joined selvedge to selvedge with machine stitched seams incorporating narrow seam allowances; all strips are warped in a blue ground with three stripes composed of alternating narrow orange and red stripes; most primary weft is blue; blocks of weft patterning (some as primary weft and some a supplemental weft ) include white, red, orange, black and green, and exploit color change as well as weft floats in creating pattern; placement of patterned weft bands was planned to create an alternating checkerboard-type pattern within the body of the cloth when the strips are joined; borders of denser patterning are present across the top and bottom edges of the cloth and two-strip wide borders with narrower patterning bands occur along both sides; the top and bottom edges of the cloth are un-hemmed, ending in a short fringe.
