24 pattern-woven strips joined selvedge to selvedge by whip stitching to create a larger cloth; seams are present in one of the strips (likely to adjust size to maintain overall pattern sequence); the warp in all strips is black with five narrow white stripes; primary weft is also black; three-unit blocks of weft faced patterning-stripes, checks and brocaded angular forms-are spaced within each strip to form a checker board-like pattern overall when the strips are joined; five-unit groups of abutting patterned blocks are woven at the ends of each strip and create top and bottom borders in the cloth when the strips are joined; weft patterning throughout relies upon color change or supplemental weft brocading to create bands of stripes, checks and angular motifs; the top and bottom edges of the cloth are un-hemmed, ending in a short fringe.
