This Manchu woman’s gown from the Qing dynasty has vents on both sides that extend up to the armpits. Mushroom shaped ruyi patterns are formed with couched ribbons and red twill. The outer material is red twill, with embroidered hibiscus blossoms. The collar, front panel, sleeves and borders are trimmed with black tabby ribbons with colorful decorations. White sleeve bands with floral embroidery are sewn on to the cuffs.
