This is a type of mandala often used in Esoteric practice. There are three outer registers and inside four large gates, each of a different colour, which represent the four catvari karmani. Inside the wall there is also a layer of lotus petals representing the vajra of the lotus section. There are four transformational bodies of the catvari karmani of the main deity, and these are the dependants of the main figure. In the central upper section is Sakyamuni, on the left Amitayus and on the right rgyal-tshab rje (1364-1432); in the lower left is chos-rgyal (Yama), and to the lower right, the Six-armed Guardian.
