Taichung, Taiwan

Manganese nodule is characterized by enrichment of Mn, Fe, Ni, Co, Cu, Al, Mo, V, Ti, and considered a potential mining source. However, because of the nodule remained at deep sea-bed and poor smelting technology, it is not yet a large scale mining operation. The specimen was dredged at a water depth of 2900 m in the Philippine Sea. This specimen is a donation from Professor Ju-Chin Chen of the Taiwan University.
