A member of the tropical snapper family, Mangrove Jacks (Lutjanus argentimaculatus) live in freshwater and mangrove-lined estuaries as juveniles. When they mature at about 50 cm in length, they migrate to deep offshore reefs to spawn and grow up to a metre long.
