Notting Hill Carnival
Weeks before the planned 1970 carnival, demonstrators marched to protest against police harassment and constant raids on the Mangrove Restaurant. The demonstration ended in civil disorder and a number of arrests. The Mangrove Nine trials followed. Consequently Rhaune Laslett cancelled her plans for the 1970 carnival and retired from the event.
