Manja like this one, with the distinct turning and lacquering, were common in the western part of Malwa region. Muslim craftspeople in the region were skilled in the production of such turned and lacquered legs both for charpoys and for pidha (stools). The commonly used lacquer colours were red, orange, yellow and black; black being unique to Punjab.
