Manolo Sanlúcar, composer and concert artist, was born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz). His father, Isidro Muñoz, introduced him to the world of flamenco guitar at the age of seven. He began his professional career as a guitar accompanist before the age of 14.

Among the awards he has received are the National Guitar Prize (Cátedra Andaluza de Flamenco in Granada, 1972), the First Prize at the World Guitar Festival (Campione, Italy, 1972), the First Prize at the National Guitar Competition in Córdoba, the Medal of Andalusia, the Compás del Cante, the National Music Prize, the Puerta de Alcalá Prize and the Pastora Pavón Niña de los Peines Prize from the Culture Department of the Regional Government of Andalusia.
