This painting shows a family worshipping deity Shrinathji during the festival of Nanda. It is a rendition of a daily showing, darshan, sponsored or attended by the family.
The Nanda festival commemorates the infant Krishna’s joyous reception by his adoptive mother and father, Yashoda and Nanda. The donors stand beside a Pichhawai, depicting Shrinathji. The figures of the donors have been cut from photographs and pasted onto the scene.
This painting is produced by the Khubiram Gopilal studio, partnered by Khubiram and Gopilal Govardhanji of Nathdwara.
