Elizabeth Melville, Lady Culross, became the first published Scottish female writer, when her visionary poem Ane Godlie Dream was printed in 1603. These sonnets, found at the end of a beautifully copied manuscript volume of sermons preached by the Reverend Robert Bruce in 1590-91, were first attributed to Melville in 2002.
