Before his writings took their final form, Kierkegaard produced various ”writing exercises”, for example a drama entitled “The Battle between the New and the Old Soap-Cellars: A heroic-patriotic-cosmopolitan-philan¬thropic-fatalistic drama in several acts”

The manuscript, however, remained in the drawer, as might perhaps be expected from this chaotic page.
