24 Kyo-machi, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Japan

This map on a scale of 1:5,000 tells us enormous geographic information around the twin-town, Hyogo and Kobe, in the late 19th century. In the eastern area of Kobe, the foreign settlement and the international harbor facilities were built in 1868. The Minatogawa river ran between Hyogo and Kobe, but it was moved to the west of Hyogo in 1901. Thus, both cities were merged and developed as one great port city “Kobe”.
