Map Showing the Route of Mendrisio’s Holy Week Processions

The Holy Week Processions of Mendrisio follow a circular route through the streets of the historic town centre. The procession begins at the Church of San Giovanni, follows its traditional route through the old town, passes through the main square, reaches the Capuchin Church, and then returns to San Giovanni. Along the entire route, the streets are illuminated by the evocative Trasparenti, large translucent paintings that transform the town into an open-air museum. Because the procession returns along the same route, spectators have the unique opportunity to witness it twice in the same evening, experiencing it from different perspectives.
