The gate of the Mausoleum of Khedive Tewfik’s family, popularly known as Qubbet Affandina. This marble door may be all what is left of the Hilmiyyah Palace, one of many palaces Abbas Pasha built after ascending to power in 1848. It was built to Ottoman design: opulent and large, centred around a garden of rare and exquisite plants and trees from all over the world and surrounded by a high wall.
