Though difficult to see in the photograph, the Humpty Dumpty Marble Game by W.S. Reed Toy Company is actually a precursor to later pinball machines and similar bagatelles. A spring-loaded launcher at the bottom right fires the marble up and around, then it rolls down and falls through one of the scoring holes in the clown's face. It then continues through to the bottom of the game where it either lands in a scoring hole or misses and goes completely to the end, where it takes "ten (points) off." Made of printed wood, the game represents the usual high quality playthings produced by Reed.
