Marble inscribed grave stele. The inscription ΠΡΟΥΣΗΣ ΜΕΝΕΚΡΑΤΟΥΣ ΝΕΙΚΟΜΗΔΕΥΣ ΦΙΛΟΛΟΓΟΣ ΕΤΩΝ ΚΔ ΧΑΙΡΕ ΚΑΙ ΣΥ commemorates the philologist Prouses, son of Menekrates, from Nikomedia in Bythinia, Asia Minor, who died at the early age of 24. Rendered on the plain surface of the slab are only the tools of the dead mans trade: two book rolls and a box. From Megara. 1st c. BC-1st c. AD. H. 1.20 m. Gift of Aikaterini Stathatos (ΓΕ 31182)
