This statue was found at Akragas (modern Agrigento) on Sicily’s southern coast. It was found near the temple of Zeus, one of the largest Greek temples ever built, but it is probably too small to be part of its original decoration. Ghostly traces of painted palmettes can be detected on the warrior's helmet, which was further embellished with a crest and vizer, probably added in metal.
