Marcel Compaignon de Marchéville bought the du Moulin castle in 1901 from Edmond Chenu de Thuet, when his sister Edwige Chenu de Thuet who was single and living in the castle died. The castle restoration works started at once, but Marcel Compaignon de Marchéville died of a heart attack in 1904. His son Louis went on restoring the castle until the first war in 1914.
