Portrait of a female figure sitting in the foreground, on a dark background, half-body, turned 3/4 to the left. It presents on the left, at the top, a kind of door through which a faint light enters the black curly hair and stuck at the top, at the height of the forehead, a tiara, on the left, a butterfly-shaped ornament from which a feather comes out, both equally in stones. In the left ear, I play in stones. Around the neck, a pearl necklace with 4 laps, with a stone cabochon in the center from which hang 3 pendants, also of stone, in the form of tears. Golden dress with bare neck and shoulders, neckline adorned with white lace and golden tones, 3/4 sleeves finished off with the same lace as the neckline and with lace also in lace, marked waist ending slightly below in V. In her hands she brings lace cushions buttoned by ornate stones, each with a bow; on them, bracelets in stones. The 4 apparent fingers of the hand, supported on the arm of the chair, carry rings, as well as the index finger of the left hand, supported on his left leg. On her chest, a pink band with a white band in the center, ending in a bow to which a medallion is attached (Band of the Royal Order of Santa Isabel).
Domitila de Castro Canto e Melo, Marchioness de Santos (São Paulo, 12/27/1797 - 11/3/1867). From 1822 to 1829 she was the favourite of D. Pedro I, emperor of Brazil, with whom she had 4 children.
