Marie Litta (born Marie Eugenia von Elsner) was born in Bloomington, IL in 1856 and from a young age was known for her outstanding musical talent. Her father began her training and she went on to study in Cleveland and France, though still keeping Bloomington in her heart. She performed and was beloved by all in the United States and Europe until she died from an illness in her mother’s home at the young age of 27.
