Small metal glasses.

Marilla’s eyes grew tired throughout the novel, and she often took pains behind her eyes for which Dr Spencer’s glasses weren’t doing any good. A specialist examined her eyes and told her to quit work that strains the eyes, be careful not to cry and wear special glasses to prevent any worsening condition, cure her headaches, and prevent her blindness!
