Marine in Capri

Guglielmo Ciardi (1842-1917), one of the masters of the 19th-century landscape style, trained between Venice, Florence and Naples. "Marine in Capri" was painted during one of the artist's many stays in Naples. The sharpness of the photographic rendering of the layout stands out, but even more important is the vibrant, immediate application of colour typical of "en plein air" painting.
