Marion's Entrance Hall

This photo was taken in late 1929, shortly after the construction of Mrs. McNay’s home, which began in September of 1927. The mansion was built in the Spanish-Colonial Revival style under the guidance of architects Atlee B. and Robert M. Ayres.

Here you can see a partial view of the entrance hall, which is punctuated with ironwork and artisan tiles on the floors and stairs. From 1954 to 2008, this entryway was used as the Museum’s main entrance. Today, we know it as the Semmes Lobby.
