Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer and Coelacanth

The specimen was identified by the ichthyologist of Rhodes University, James Leonard Brierley Smith, as belonging to the coelacanth genus thought extinct. He named the specimen Latimeria chalumnae, after Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer
