One of the essential elements of a Jewish wedding ceremony is the writing and signing of a marriage contract, or ketubbah. The inscriptions in the borders are from Psalms 128:3, reading "They wife shall be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of thy house; Thy children like olive plants, round about thy table."
