Martyrdom of Saint Martina

The Martyrdom of Saint Martina dates from the final years of Pietro da Cortona’s career. The Accademia di San Luca had commissioned the painter and architect to design a new church on the site of the ancient church of Saint Martina next to the Roman Forum (now jointly dedicated to the Saints Luke and Martina).
