This suit of armor was owned by Tachibana Tadashige, the second lord of the Yanagawa domain. There is also a possibility that the helmet was owned by the first lord.
This is delicately made piece composing black lacquered scales laced with black cords. The solid black form with no ornamental fittings has simple appearance but gives a modern impression.
