Michelle Kettle is an Irish artist from Loughshinny, Co. Dublin. She studied ceramics at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, where upon graduating, moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2009. Without the use of a kiln, she began to explore her surroundings through the medium of oil paint. Kettle states: 'I have a fascination with Australian architecture and am particularly interested in exploring the subtle shifts in light and shadow on their facades. I am intrigued by the often overlooked, familiar scenes of our everyday experience. Through somewhat of a voyeuristic lens, I paint images of local and rural buildings, curious to the life that lays beyond the half-drawn curtains and closed doors.'
